Dear all,
This is a reminder for those of you who haven't sent me their
contributions for the 'Rare Entries Contest' yet. The deadline for the
contest is April 5, 12:00 CET.
Up to now, I have received only a small number of entries. This game is
only worth playing if there are enough participants, so use your knowledge
of Jules Verne, your favourite search engine, and above all your wits, and
send me your answers before April 5! Remember to send your answers to me
personally, and not to any mailing list or forum.
The contest consists of ten questions that you need to answer correctly,
while giving answers that as few other participants as possible give. You
can find the rules and the questions at:
http://www.phys.uu.nl/~gdevries/rare/
The questions:
0) Give the name of a dog who, in a Voyage Extraordinaire, has travelled on a ship.
1) Name a character that is mentioned in at least three works by Jules Verne.
2) Name a work by Jules Verne that has been translated in at least 25 languages.
3) Name a character from a work by Jules Verne whose initials are M.S.
4) Excluding France, name a country that Jules Verne visited at least twice.
5) Name a type of transport used by Phileas Fogg in the novel Le tour du monde en 80 jours.
6) Name a river, seen by a character in a Voyage Extraordinaire, that is at least 3500 km long.
7) Name a character from a work by Jules Verne who is a professional journalist.
Name a meteorological phenomenon that causes danger to a character in a Voyage Extraordinaire.
Meteorological is here used in its modern sense (dealing with the phenomena of the atmosphere, especially weather and weather conditions).
9) Name an actor or actress who starred in at least two movies mentioning Jules Verne in the writing credits.
Best regards,
Garmt.
