The atmosphere at award-winning T. Cook's is a combination of earthy comfort and elegant decadence, and the expertly crafted menu is a perfect match for the setting. "Lee (Hilson), the head chef, is marvelous," Cussler says. He enjoys the variety on the menu and likes to mix it up, confident that any dish will be superb, and adds that the service is always very good.

"Fresh, fresh, fresh," is the mantra at McCormick and Schmick's, a national chain serving prime seafood. What other restaurant have you heard of that prints an updated menu twice a day to keep up with the latest deliveries of fresh seafood? Cussler says he's a major seafood fan."I'm big on oysters," he says. "My wife and always get about three dozen oysters. And the shrimp crab Louie is great."
Barrio Café

Barrio Café is a relatively young restaurant, opening back in 2002, but it's already made a strong impression on the Valley dining scene. Ranked tops in several categories of various "Best Of" polls, including best tequila selection, best Mexican desserts and best modern Mexican restaurant, Barrio elevates Mexican food to Mexican cuisine. "I've always liked Mexican food," Cussler says. "I love their quesadillas."

A true dining destination, the aptly-named Different Pointe of View offers some of the most stunning panoramic views of the Valley. Cussler calls it a great place to celebrate a special occasion. "The chef is terrific," he says. But it's not just the amazing food. Cussler adds that his favorite part is of the experience is "the view you have up there."

Lon's is another classic must-try Arizona restaurant. Set inside the historic Hermosa Inn, Lon's continues the charm and tradition of old Arizona.
